Low Limit Holdem

Low Limit Holdem, low risk high gains

Low Limit Holdem - an introduction

As the name suggests, it is a poker game where the wagers are small. There are three betting structures in Low Limit Holdem:
- Limit: there are set increments on the wager amount for each betting round
- Pot Limit: there is a minimum set and the pot acts as the maximum
- No Limit: a player can bet all his chips at any given time

Low Limit Holdem - Betting rules and playing instructions
At Casinos, there is either a house dealer, or a round marker, the "dealer button", which is placed in front of the designated player and moves clockwise to the next player after every game.
In Low Limit Holdem, players have to determine the best hand of cards they are dealt. Once the betting limits are established for the game, card distribution and betting start to the left of the dealer. The player posts half the minimum bet or the "small blind". The player to dealer's left posts the "big blind" i.e. the minimum bet. Bets must be the minimum wager and play continues clockwise. Players may call, raise or fold. The players are then dealt two cards face down. Three cards, the community cards, which can be used by all players, are dealt face up - this is called "The Flop". The subsequent 3 rounds follow a similar pattern - except that, only one community card is dealt, and players continue to place their bets. After the fifth round, final betting takes place; hands are compared to determine the winner.

Low Limit Holdem - Game plan
It is primarily a game, where the player with two high cards holds the best chance of winning, or at worst a draw to the best hand after the flop.
-Play strong hands, as often as you can and that too aggressively. They offer the best chance of a raise if not multiple raises.
-Playing medium and other playable hands is advisable when there is a possibility of seeing the flop at a reasonable price.
-Reduce competition to better your chances of winning.

Low Limit Holdem - Secret to Success
-Patience is the key - wait to be dealt potentially winning cards.
-Be aggressive in betting and 'raising' when the time is right.
-Do not get carried away by immediate gains - each hand counts!
Over time and with experience, while playing 'low limit holdem', these three small pointers have the potential to take you from winning small profits to raking it in! It's all a question of basic math and a simple sound strategy!
