An online gambling Web site known for its oddball publicity endeavors is spending an extra $25,000 to turn a quaint stunt into a full-fledged event.
GoldenPalace.com bid $2,550 on eBay to have its logo and Web site adorn the side of a 1997 Dodge Neon when Will Stuckenberg drives it off a cliff near Joplin on Saturday. But the company decided the advertising was a bargain, so it asked Stuckenberg to find 10 more vehicles for the show, saying it would pay $2,500 for each additional car.
"All of these are going to go off the cliff full throttle," Stuckenberg said. "Some will bang into each other. Some will crash and burn."
The vehicles range from a 1984 Ford Bronco to a 1998 Ford Winstar, and of course the Dodge Neon, to which Stuckenberg auctioned off the rights because he didn’t think he could recoup the money he spent on repairs.
